Combining ingredients in a blend is nothing new. Most of the foods we eat blend ingredients to create new taste sensations. We blend fruits and vegetables to make smoothies. Even our coffee is blended. So why should our skincare products be any different? 

 

At Graces, we’ve been blending natural, organic oils for five years now. Great skin products need great foundations, and at the root of our range is a blend of oils which have some impressive wellbeing benefits. When combined, they unite to form a grounding base for skin, mind and body wellness, nourishing you from the outside in (as well as inside out). 

 

Let’s face it

When it comes to skin care rituals it isn’t just about applying creams and lotions. The action of massaging moisturising products into the skin can be considered self care - it relaxes the facial muscles and can make us feel more peaceful, which is not only good for our skin, but our mental health too. As the largest organ in the body, our skin has to protect us against an array of toxins and other nasties, so taking good care of it is essential.

Touching base

Combining hempseed oil, argan oil, rosehip oil and jojoba oil, along with an array of natural essential oils, our blends are pure and simple, extracted from the beauty of nature. All six new product blends are 100% organic; and they can be used on your skin, hair, body, hands, nails and feet, and even in the bath. 

Let’s explore our base oils and why they help lay the perfect foundations for your skin wellbeing.

   

First base - Hempseed oil

Hempseed will always be at the root of all our ingredients, it’s our absolute favourite oil. Hemp is, in our opinion, one of the most helpful plants in history. It’s able to feed us, clothe us, house us and heal us. And hemp’s seeds also have some equally impressive properties too. Not only is it high in Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids that help hydrate the skin, hempseed oil also has antibacterial properties which can be helpful for lots of different skin ailments, such as oily skin or acne. Hempseed oil is non-comedogenic which means it won’t clog your pores, making it the perfect ingredient for moisturisers, balms and other skin remedies. It’s also high in vitamin E, which is well known for its anti-aging properties and overall skin benefits. Hempseed acts as an anti-inflammatory, which can help to soothe inflamed skin. While it doesn’t contain any cannabinoids such as CBD or THC, it is a nutritious oil rich in vitamins; minerals including magnesium, calcium, iron and zinc; antioxidants; and essential fatty acids - making it our absolute favourite ingredient. Nourish your skin and make it happy and healthy with hempseed!   

 

Second base - Argan oil

The kernels from the Moroccan-native argan tree provide this sought-after oil. It’s probably best known for smoothing and soothing our hair, but argan oil has many other uses. It can be eaten, used cosmetically for skin and hair and even has some medicinal uses, boosting heart health and potentially helping wounds to heal faster. It has anti-inflammatory properties, and is an antioxidant, with other compounds such as CoQ10, melatonin and plant sterols also playing a role in its healing properties. As well as that, it is rich in vitamin E, which we know has lots of skin-boosting benefits. This superfood oil won’t clog your pores and is especially great at calming sore and distressed, blemished prone skin. Its sebum regulating properties make it very soothing oil for acne prone skin, and it can help to restore brightness to your skin. The list of benefits glows on!

    

Third base - Rosehip oil

Rosehip oil has been hailed by dermatologists as a skincare superhero. It is a pressed seed oil that has been used since ancient times for its healing properties, and is currently used as a popular skincare ingredient due to its hydrating and anti-aging benefits. First and foremost, rosehip oil is a highly-effective emollient and moisturiser, and with a high concentration of essential fatty acids it softens the skin and improves its barrier function. The linoleic acid (otherwise known as Omega-6) found in rosehip oil can also help to treat dark skin patches caused by hyperpigmentation, as well as giving a more even and bright skin tone. It can also help to increase collagen production which boosts the skin’s natural elasticity and helps combat wrinkles. Rosehip regenerates and restores the skin with its many healing properties, namely vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, vitamin C and vitamin K. A study proved that using rosehip oil on patients post-surgery improved the look of their scars. As well as that, it can be helpful for acne, rosacea, eczema, and other inflammatory skin issues. This natural oil certainty helps puts the roses back in your cheeks!  

 

Fourth base - Jojoba oil

Coming from the jojoba bean, this golden liquid wax native to North America has been used for treating skin ailments for centuries. Indigenous communities in the Sonoran Desert used it as a balm for restoring the skin; and ever since, it’s been used to help treat a variety of skin conditions, with its balance of skin-healing vitamins that nourish the skin. What makes jojoba so unique is its wax ester, which acts in a similar way to the natural wax produced by human skin. Jojoba is the only plant on Earth known to produce this kind of golden wax liquid, making it truly one of a kind. As well as containing the essential fatty acids Omega-3 and Omega-6 which help regenerate the skin and repair damaged skin tissue, jojoba has powerful antioxidant properties. Its unique wax penetrates the skin deeply, and fills the gaps between skin cells, adding extra protection against skin aging. Good skincare really does run deep.

Blending natural base oils with specially selected essential oils that have specific healing properties, our new range amplifies the wellbeing benefits to soothe not just your skin, but also your mind, body and spirit. Each new product in the range has accompanying meditations, sounds, and crystal energies to add an even bigger boost to your skincare practice. It’s like self care on steroids!
